The completion of the WA Aboriginal Child Health Survey would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment from the survey team, including its researchers, writers, data analysts, community consultants and support staff.

The leaders of the survey team are:


Steve Zubrick

Professor Steve Zubrick – MSc, MA, PhD
Professor Zubrick completed his doctoral and postdoctoral work in psychology at the University of Michigan. Before starting at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in 1991, he worked in Western Australian hospital and outpatient mental health settings for many years. He is currently Head of Population Sciences at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and Co-Director of the Curtin Centre for Developmental Health.

Sven Silburn

Professor Sven Silburn – BSc, BSc (Hons), MSc (Clin Psych), MAPS
Professor Silburn trained in Clinical Psychology at the University of Natal in South Africa and practiced in the area of clinical child psychology whilst employed by the Western Australian Health Department from 1978 to 1990. He joined the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in 1991 and has been involved in developing a program of applied research in child and adolescent mental health, school and community approaches to suicide prevention and Aboriginal child health. He currently heads the Curtin Centre for Developmental Health.

Colleen Hayward Professor Colleen Hayward
Associate Professor, Curtin University of Technology. Colleen was recently recruited from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services agency of the Australian Government. Colleen is a senior Noongar woman with family ties throughout the south-west of Western Australia. She has an extensive policy and management background in a range of areas and was previously deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Legal Service of WA. Other experience covers areas including health, education, training, employment, housing.
Glenn Pearson

Glenn Pearson – BEd
Glenn previously worked for the WA Department for Community Development and has experience in social policy and education. In 2001, Glenn was appointed an executive policy position within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services (ATSIS) State Policy Office where he worked for 3 years. Glenn recently started with the WAACHS team and is currently the Senior Research Officer for the Communication and Dissemination Strategy.
