	Building better communities for children For the past three years, Shell in Australia has supported the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) project which measures the developmental progress and school-readiness of children within a community.  In that time, more than 31,000 children from 54 communities across six States and territories have completed the AEDI.  Read more>>

In Australia, Shell partners with community organisations in the areas of environment, education and health, and work closely together to maximise the lasting benefit of the relationship for both parties.

Shell Australia supports the Australian Early Development Index (AEDI), an innovative tool that helps communities to assess how children are developing by the time they reach school age by implementing the AEDI in all schools in an area.

The results provide communities with a basis for reviewing the services, supports and environments that influence children in their first five years of life. It also provides information for schools and the community to look ahead to the supports that need to be developed to enhance children's capacity to be successful once they reach school.

This project is an important plank of Shell’s social investment program and provides critical assistance in implementing the AEDI throughout Australia.
