Rio Tinto is one of the world's leading mining and exploration companies. Rio Tinto in Western Australia supports a wide range of programmes and partnerships across the state which aim to build a stronger and more sustainable community.

This investment takes many forms - from major state-wide partnerships with community groups and governments; to localised sponsorships and programmes in the towns and regions where Rio Tinto operates; through to providing in-kind and infrastructure support to neighbouring communities.

The Rio Tinto Child Health Partnership is a unique partnership aimed at delivering improvements in the health and wellbeing of Australian and Torres Strait Islander mothers and children.

Rio Tinto has displayed great leadership in making this partnership a success, by working collaboratively with state and federal governments, the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation, and the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research.

The Partnership aims to improve the health of indigenous children through expanding the Western Australian Aboriginal Child Health Survey into the Northern Territory and Queensland; reducing prenatal exposure to alcohol and tobacco; and enhancing and developing a skilled indigenous maternal and child health workforce.
