Fundraising ideas

There are lots of fun ways to fundraise for the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research. Taking part in a fundraising activity can help raise both funds and awareness of the Institute while building a sense of teamwork and achievement.

Please note that before undertaking a fundraising activity on behalf of the Institute, you must read our Community Fundraising Guidelines and return our Community Fundraising Registration Form. All fundraising events must be approved by the Institute before they begin as we must satisfy Government rules and regulations.

Some fundraising ideas:

  • Host a Casual Dress Day at your workplace or school
  • Quiz Nights are great fun for staff, clients, parents or students
  • Raffles are an easy way to fundraise
  • Golf Days are always popular
  • Chocolate drives are a yummy way to raise funds
  • Charity Auctions can be hosted in conjunction with other events
  • Nominate the Institute as your preferred charity at your Charity Ball or Christmas Party
  • Individual sponsored challenges are a great way to raise money while doing something unusual

Tips for successful fundraising

Tip 1: How are you going to make your money? Are you going to charge an entry fee, ask for contributions or both? Are you going to hold an auction or a raffle? Are you going to offer sponsorship packages?

Tip 2: Maximise the opportunities to raise funds at the one event. For example, if you’re having a Quiz Night, consider also having a raffle and sponsorship opportunities as well.

Tip 3: Ask people to give you the money straight away – this will save a lot of time after the event.

Tip 4: Be a Community Champion and know where the money’s going. Make sure you know enough about the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research - our areas of research and advocacy for child health issues. It’s not just about the money - you want to educate people about the research we do as well.
