Wording your bequest

Wording your gift
While it is a simple process to include a gift to the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in your Will, it is important that it is worded carefully to ensure your wishes are carried out correctly.

Sample wording is given here simply as a guide and we strongly recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor to ensure that your gift is clearly and legally stated.

“I give (insert as applicable)

…% of my estate
OR
the residue of my estate
OR
the sum of $...
OR
Real property (details)
OR
Other property, which could include life insurance proceeds, shares, managed funds, bonds, artwork, jewellery (details)

to the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research of 100 Roberts Road Subiaco in the State of Western Australia to be applied for the use of the Institute for its research purposes or such specific purpose/s as agreed by the Institute and I direct that the receipt of the Institute thereof shall be sufficient discharge to my trustee.”

Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds
Donating appreciated, publicly-listed securities, such as stock, bonds and mutual fund units, is the least expensive way to make a gift. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full value of your donation.

Life Insurance
Life Insurance premiums today can provide the Institute with a significant gift in the future. It is as easy as naming the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research as a beneficiary of your policy. Speak to your insurance agent for details.

Memorial or Family Trusts
When establishing a family or memorial trust fund, you can include the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research as a potential beneficiary of the trust. This allows the allocation of trust income to the Institute, with all the resulting tax concessions, when circumstances make it suitable.
