The early years There is a growing body of research that shows the importance of early brain development.
How children are nurtured and stimulated in their first five years of life affects their development in many ways, including how they perform at school and how they handle the stresses in life.
The Institute is a prime mover in the national roll-out of the Australian Early Development Index – a powerful tool for communities to see just how well their children are faring, even before they start school. The Australian Early Development Index project uses a community measure of young children's development to improve support and services at a community level. Read more>>
