Associate Professor Elizabeth Milne

Elizabeth Milne
BSc MPH PhD
Epidemiology

Since joining the Institute in 2001, Associate Professor Milne has established a flourishing nationally- and internationally-recognized research program in childhood cancer epidemiology.  She is the Director of Commonwealth funded studies of possible environmental and genetic risk factors for leukaemia and brain tumours in children.  As childhood cancers are relatively rare, it is crucial to collaborate with international colleagues so that informative studies can be undertaken.  Associate Professor Milne plays a leading role in several international consortia, including one to share data on risk factors for childhood leukaemia and another to investigate the possible effect of mobile phone use on the risk of brain tumours in young people aged 10-24 years.   Along with interstate colleagues, she is also conducting a world-first study of nutrition and genome health in children.ssociate Professor Milne is an Institute Principal Research Fellow and an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of WA.
