Achievements

The Kulunga Research Network is committed to ensuring that our research achieves real improvements in the life circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities, nationally but especially in Western Australia.
 
Since our establishment in 1999, Kulunga has grown to expand our capacity and expertise. Managing a broad portfolio of projects and consultancies and with support from so many different organisations has been challenging, but extremely successful.
 
Under the strong leadership of Associate Professor Colleen Hayward since December 2004, some of the Kulunga team highlights include:
 
  • Visible presence of Kulunga within the Institute;
  • Ensuring the financial security of Kulunga;
  • Broad recognition of Kulunga by other research facilities, tertiary institutions, government agencies, sections of the Health sector and community;
  • Clear articulation of core areas of activity;
  • Development of research agenda;
  • Undertaking of high quality research;
  • Stabilisation of Kulunga team;
  • Establishment of staffing structure within Kulunga;and
  • Production of quarterly newsletter “commUNITY”.
